About Because There is Hope
Our organization originated as the dream of Melody Biehl.
As a cancer survivor, she was quite confronted by the reality that revolves around cancer treatment. She felt that the fight for wellness should be supported and not burdened by the rigors of handling the minor details of travel and accommodation during the treatment process.
That dream has grown into an organization and supportive network that lifts up the process to another level.
Because There Is Hope is honored to welcome patients to a place of support, compassion, and relief from the challenges they face daily.
100% of proceeds go directly to the local community.
To qualify for lodging at our Hospitality House and network or accommodation:
- Patient must be in active treatment for cancer.
- Patient’s permanent residence must be more than fifty miles from their treatment facility.
- Patient must demonstrate need (due to financial hardship or having exhausted alternative options for housing).
- The Hospitality House, is a smoke and alcohol free environment.
Melody Biehl is the heart of Because There is Hope. Her determination and compassion have created a new way of approaching the cancer treatment process. She couldn’t do it without the commitment of the board and many loyal volunteers.
A Place of Rest and Recovery
Traveling for treatment is costly, exhausting, and often overlooked as a critical area of need. Meeting that need in the form of support and accommodation is the pulse of Because There is Hope.
